USTANAK NA ZAPADU

Sred prolećne zore ta večer nas prenu
Strah u grlu hrabrost sputa

Slušah,
Ćutke ustadoh
I radio isključih

Bez zvijezda noć,
Skoro na me red će doć',
Vlak čekat' neću,
Krvnika krv proliću

Što blješti za šumom, što razveja tminu,
Boj se ljuti Sanom bije

Gledah,
Suze naviru
I, tiho plačuć', pođoh

"Hrvatski narode! Božja providnost i volja našeg saveznika, te mukotrpna višestoljetna borba hrvatskog naroda i velika požrtvovnost našeg Poglavnika doktora Ante Pavelića, te ustaškog pokreta u zemlji i inozemstvu odredili su da danas pred dan Uzkrsnuća Bozjeg Sina, uzkrsne i naša Nezavisna Država Hrvatska!"

Slušah,
Ćutke ustadoh
I radio isključih

Gledah,
Suze naviru
I, tiho plačuć', pođoh

Sad natrag ne mogu pred puške kad stadoh,
S novom zorom domu poć' ću



UPRISING IN THE WEST

Amidst the spring we were startled by the dark
The courage hampered by the fear stuck in throat

I listened,
Quietly I stood up
And turned off the radio

Starless night,
Soon it will be my turn (to leave),
Yet I’ll not wait for the train,
(But instead) spill the blood of the butchers

What glares behind the forest scattering the dark,
A fierce battle is fought on Sana river

I watched,
Tears in my eyes,
And I left, silently weeping

"Croatian people! By God's providence and the will of our ally, as well as the painful age-old battle of Croatian people and great sacrifice of our Leader dr Ante Pavelic, as well as the Ustashe at home and abroad have determined that today, a day ahead of the day of Resurrection of the Son of God, so too is resurrected our Independent State of Croatia!"

I listened,
Quietly I stood up
And turned off the radio

I watched,
Tears in my eyes,
And I left, silently weeping

Once I faced the rifles, there could be no way back,
Just as the dawn will rise so too I will return home
