POD PLAVIM NEBOM

Rodih se tu i tu proživeh život celi, dan je prost a noći prostih su snova platno,
Kao svi i ja sám od drugih priče slušah, beše tad i slom i svakoga roda muka

„Sužnjima se zvasmo!” - i kada svaki usta, ustaše moji svi i ja sa njima ustah,
Očiju i srca žuči i suza punih pred slavom ja stajah, na poziv odgovorih!...

Pod plavim nebom, nad zlatnim morem, moje srce ka vama leti
A život svoj za nauk ja sam dao: „junaka” je stid, a slava je laž...

Bez kraja je stepa a hrabrost moja kopni, novac je sad krv i danak na zapad teče
Uzmite krv moju al' dušu zemlji dajem i nebu da grehe sve moje crne proste

„Javi se i sačuvaj me dok ne dođe, ona zna da si mi drug...”

UNDER THE BLUE SKY

Here I was born and here I lived my life, the day is simple, the night but a canvas of simple dreams,
As any, I heard the tales from others, as it was a time of trouble and no hardship were we strangers to

“Slaves we were!” – and when everyone stood up, my own stood up and I stood up with them,
Tears I shed and my heart ached as I stood before the glory, answering the call!...

Under the blue sky, above the golden sea, my heart flies towards you
And I gave my life for this single lesson: the “hero” is left with shame, and the glory’s stained with lies...

Endless is the steppe and my courage wanes, the money is now our blood, trickling ever westward,
Take my blood away but my soul I give onto the land and sky so that they may forgive my blackest sins

"Answer the call and keep me safe until she comes, she knows that you are my friend..."
